The opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering on the promises made through insurance. As a Claims Assessor, you will assess and manage employee benefit claims, ensuring they are reviewed fairly, accurately, and efficiently, while providing excellent service to customers and intermediaries throughout the claims journey.

Working as part of a supportive and collaborative team across both Savings and Protection product lines, you will be at the heart of our customer experience. This customer-focused role requires empathy, sound judgement, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to achieving positive outcomes for customers at what can often be a challenging time.

Key responsibilities:

  • Handle enquiries from customers and brokers, resolving issues within agreed authority levels and in line with our claims philosophy.
  • Gather all required information and documentation to assess claims and make decisions within delegated authority limits, escalating complex or higher-value cases when appropriate.
  • Manage ongoing annuity claims, including reviewing continued eligibility for benefit payments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on the Lifeware administration platform.
  • Manage back-to-work processes, liaising with employers and administering partial claim payments as employees return to work.
  • Ensure customer-specific claims processes and service requirements are always followed.
  • Work closely with the Employee Benefit Services Manager to coordinate rehabilitation and early intervention support where required.
  • Produce and maintain claims reporting for key distributors and stakeholders.
  • Support process improvements, new initiatives, system developments, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities as required.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of claims processes, service delivery, and customer outcomes.

Your skills and experience:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy, and care, particularly when supporting vulnerable customers.
  • Sound decision-making skills and the ability to apply policy terms, procedures, and regulatory requirements consistently.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Flexibility to work across different product lines and adapt to changing business needs.
  • A collaborative approach and a willingness to support colleagues and share knowledge.
  • A positive attitude and a genuine commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
